I was originally inspired by my high school building's brutalist architectural style . This prompted me to conduct more research and read more about brutalist architecture, where I learned that the core values of brutalism is practicality and purpose, commonly known through the phrase "form follows function". In order to convey the core characteristics of this concept, I have designed practical, form fitting, and stylish designs that can be worn for multiple settings, such as business, casual streetwear, or slightly more upscale.“Bèton Brut" which translates to "raw concrete" in French, refers to the architectural style of brutalism that is characterized by its exposed concrete surfaces of buildings and unadorned aesthetic. Deriving inspiration from popular buildings such as the Boston City Hall and the San Francisco Transamerica Building, this collection uses a variety of textiles and sleek garment construction to create fall/winter ready-to-wear outfits that align with brutalist style and values.
